Back in May of 2003, I underwent Lasik Eye Surgery. Now, I was very well aware of all the potential risks, but I still thought it was incredibly worthwhile considering the enormous changes it would bring in my quality of life. Now, almost a year and a half later, I’m still incredibly thrilled with the surgery and incredibly happy that I went through with it. I ended up having the surgery performed by my long-time eye doc, Dr. Mirsky, and while it might have cost a bit more than had I gone to Canada or some in-and-out place in NYC, I’m much happier that I had it done by my regular eye doc, since I felt a lot more confident and secure in his abilities and in placing my eyesight literally in his hands. Obviously, he did a great job! My vision is somewhere around 20/20 without glasses right now, and its absolutely incredible. To go from having to wear glasses to see just about anything for most of my life (certainly all of my adult life prior to the surgery) to being able to see completely clearly without glasses is an incredible change, and one that I have no regrets about whatsoever. While I understand that lasik eye surgery is still risky, and not everyone experiences these results, I would still recommend it to most people simply because I feel that the potential benefits far outweigh the possible, but unlikely risks.
